Critique Group Recharge:
One Day Workshop

Is your critique group stagnant? Are members not getting all of the feedback they need? Or is your group working fine, but you wonder if it couldn't work even better?

Have us spend the day with you. We will begin with a presentation about critique groups in theory and practice, and will help you select techniques to try out in your critique group. We will spend time with you hearing about your group and how it works (or doesn't) and what you'd like to change. We will then stay with you for an extended session of your critique group, adding our feedback to the discussion and also observing your group's dynamics, strengths, and weaknesses. In a closing session, we will present some suggestions for ways your group could work better for its members.

This is a one-day workshop, best done on a weekend. We have a standard "curriculum,"--and this is a sample schedule--but will adjust it to the needs of each group. Please let us know if you have questions.

Costs: We adjust our workshop fee depending on the size of the group, as follows: Our base fee is $400 for the workshop for one of us, or $600 for both of us, for a group of up to 5 people. For each additional critique group member, please add $100. We also expect to be reimbursed for travel expenses at 50/cents mile if we drive or actual costs. For travel that requires overnight stays, we also add $250 for each of us. You can use these charges to calculate the likely cost of the workshop even before you contact us.

Cost examples: For a trip made by one of us to a group of 8 50 miles from our home, the total cost to you would be as follows: $400 + (3 x $100) + (100 x .50) = $750. For a trip made by both of us to a group of 10 in a city to which we had to travel by air at $200 RT each, with one overnight, in a hotel with rooms costing $100 each, the total cost to you would be as follows: $600 + (5 x $100) + (2 x $250) + ($2 x $200) + (2 x $100) = $2200.

What this means in practice is that for a small group within a reasonable drive, having one of us come will be affordable; a larger group might need to have both of us come, and could afford it; if significant travel is involved, then one of us coming will help to contain costs.

Please contact us to discuss your needs and your schedule. We look forward to working with you.
